I first met Mel in Indonesia while we were both solo travelers, and we bonded during a freediving trip around the stunning Komodo Island.     I forgot how long after our adventure, Mel reached out, revealing her heartbreaking diagnosis. Over time, I witnessed her remarkable strength as she documented each step of her cancer journey, transforming her struggles into poignant insights.

    Now, she has not only triumphed but also published a book! I’m so glad to see her thriving, and it’s an honor that the picture I took during our trip is featured as the book cover. It symbolizes our bond as survivors and freedivers.
